Concept to Development
Concept development is the design process through which a basic idea or rough sketch becomes a fully engineered, manufacturable product. Our team of specialised engineers partners closely with clients to turn early-stage ideas into new products that are ready for the market.
Rather than treating concept and detailed design as separate hand-offs, we manage the journey end to end, so decisions made early about form, function, and cost carry through cleanly into the final manufacturing drawings, and nothing gets lost in translation between teams.
We work across a wide range of product categories, from consumer electronics and housewares to industrial equipment, adapting our process to the complexity, budget, and timeline of each project.
Because the same team stays with the project from the first sketch to the final drawing, decisions on material, manufacturing method, and cost are made with the end goal in view from day one, rather than being revisited late and expensively.
We follow a defined process to design the product around your customer needs:
- Understanding Customer Need
- Competitor & Market Analysis
- Concept Sketches / Idea Generation
- Screening & Shortlisting Concepts
- Sample Model for Customer Review
- Design Refinement
- Prototype for Concept Validation
- Final Design Update
- Final 3D Model & 2D Manufacturing Drawings
Our Concept to Development Process
Idea & Requirement
We capture your concept, target customer, and constraints, and research the competitive landscape before sketching begins.
Concept Sketches
Multiple concept directions are sketched and screened with you down to the strongest candidate.
Prototype Validation
A sample model or prototype lets you and your customers test form, fit, and function before final commitment.
Final Engineering Release
The validated design is finalised into a complete 3D model with 2D manufacturing drawings ready for tooling.
Case Study
Concept to Development
Client : From the electronics industry in the USA.
Problem : Client wanted to design a new charging case for iPhone from a basic concept.
Resolution : We worked with the client to define the design requirements in detail, including charging capability, LED indicator lights, weight limits, and material choice, and ran a market survey of competitor products to identify gaps and opportunities. Our design team developed several concept sketches for client approval, then built sample models for hands-on review and feedback. After a round of refinement, the final design was approved and we delivered a complete featured 3D model with 2D manufacturing drawings ready for tooling.
